Interest Rate Cycle in the US - Implications to Hong Kong's Real Estate Market
The Federal Open Market Committee has released its policy statement on 16 December 2015, following a two-day meeting in Washington. Largely in line with market expectations, the 25-basis point interest rate rise that was just announced in the US was relatively mild. We spoke to several clients and all revealed that the immediate impact on investor sentiment toward real estate from the first hike of 25-basis points should not be that severe. Rather the pace of increase in 2016 is a more important factor that will likely influence the market and their business strategy.
